Some selected personnel of the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) Water District, led by GM Antonio Gerardo C. Orlanes, conducted a benchmarking activity here at the Kabacan Water District (KWD) on August 09, 2024, back-to-back with Metro Kidapawan Water District (MKWD) on August 07, 2024.
IGACOS WD’s benchmarking initiative aimed at assessing and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of KWD’s best practices and currently utilized systems, specifically the SMS blasting, to help enhance the utility’s customer communication capabilities.
The benchmarking opportunity was timely as it was the schedule for KWD’s Win Big sa Tubig Raffle Draw for July 2024. The IGACOS WD group was able to witness the raffle activity.
KWD presented the organization’s significant practices, processes, and effective and efficient long-running systems. It showcased various Information and Communications Technology (ICT) innovations and technologies it has adopted, such as the NComputing virtual desktop, information systems (SMS blasting, SMS bill inquiry), billing and collection, meter reading system, Total Works Management System, Customer Service Management System, accounting system, queuing system, online payment, online portal, Geographic Information System, and other ICT initiatives.
Benchmarking is a two-way process of learning and sharing knowledge where organizations can gain valuable information they can adopt and apply. With other water utilities seeking KWD’s best practices and processes, the District is honored and humbled by the knowledge it gained through the activity.
“Sharing is giving what we already have and receiving what we still do not have.”
