The source of water for KWD is groundwater pumped from eight (8) active wells (out of nine) located throughout the municipality. These pump stations have capacities to produce water ranging from 2 liters per second (lps) to 40 lps.

All pump stations are equipped with stand-by power generating sets which makes 24/7 operations possible even during power outages.

KWD provides treatment of water using 70% Calcium hypochlorite Ca(ClO)2 through chlorinators. This is to improve water quality prior to distribution to the consumer.On-line filtration systems were installed in December 01, 2021 at Pump Station 1, April 2021 at Pump Station 2, Pump Station 3 last January 2019, October 2018 at Pump Station 4, and Pump Station 5 at Purok 5, Barangay Katidtuan  to improve the quality of water KWD provides. With its technology, water pumped from the ground passes through multi-media filters thereby minimizing iron, manganese, and even arsenic.

As of September 30, 2024, transmission pipelines reach up to 179.588 kilometers with sizes ranging from 50 to 200 mm in diameter.

4 Steel elevated reservoir ranging from 150-227 cu.m

2 FRP Ground Reservoir 300 cu.m

1 PE elevated reservoir 30 cu.m

As of October 31, 2024, the District has 230 distribution valves with diameter ranging from 50 mm to 200 mm, 172 blow-offs and 46 hydrants installed in various strategic locations in the municipality. Fire hydrants are available within the commercial districts and at least one installed per barangay in case of fire incidents.

WATER SUPPLY

All pump stations are equipped with data loggers for water production and water level monitoring. Each pump station is also installed with a flow meter to determine production data as well as the discharge in liters per second.

KWD subjects its water to numerous analysis on a monthly and yearly basis to check for chemical contents, microbiological and physical attributes such as a. Chemical (pH, total dissolved solids, iron, manganese, arsenic, cadmium, lead and benzene); Microbiological (total coliform, fecal coliform and heterotrophic plate count); and c. Physical (color and turbidity).

The conduct of regular water analyses for KWD water is in accordance with the PNSDW. Tests are conducted for each pump station and samples are randomly collected from various points in the distribution network.

WATER USE PROFILE

The total water production based on the flowmeter of all pump stations is  2,053,154.91 cu. m. and the total rated capacity of all its water sources is 3,847,392.00 cu. m. as of September 30, 2024.

The total water billed as of September 30, 2024 is 1,855,014.00 cu. m. which accounted to 92.70% of the total water production.

The Non-Revenue Water (NRW) of KWD as of September 30, 2024 is considered one of the lowest at 9.65% compared to the 20% allowable limit set by the LWUA.
